Skin Sunday

Image
For those who know me well, I am NOT someone who has skin rituals. It has always been my in my New Year's Resolutions or to do list but never done it regularly. I was fixing toiletries in the bathroom and realized that I have bought a 6-pack box of Bliss Facial Mask. So I said to myself, maybe I'll start small. This is only once a week anyways. Seems doable. And so I followed the instructions. Wow! It is not easy as I thought it would be for a first timer. The only time I get a mask is when I go for a facial once in a blue moon. And on that occasion, your eyes are closed so how in the world will I know how much was applied! Here am I, the home facial mask virgin! I sent this pic to a trusted beauty guru friend of mine and alas I put too much especially in my forehead. She said "see looks like an iceberg!". hahaha Thanks to technology that I called her after applying  as I didn't know what to do after. lol ...

Sesame Korean Beef

Image
Since there are a few Korean restaurants in London, I decided to make my own. Here's my version of Sesame Korean Beef which is so easy to make: Ingredients beef sliced/cut into thin strips (2 pcs) soy sauce (3 tbsp) sugar (1 tbsp) sesame oil (1/2 tbsp) grated/finely chopped ginger (1 tsp) 1 clove of garlic, minced  cooking oil of choice (1 tsp) 1. Mix together the soy sauce, sugar, ginger and garlic. Stir until sugar dissolves. 2.Add the beef to the mixture. Mix well and leave it for at least an hour. 3. Heat cooking oil on high heat on a frying pan. Once really hot, add marinated beef and fry for around 4 mins. Serve with stir fried bean sprouts, kimchi and of course eat with steamed white rice. *For those on low carb diet, substitute rice with lettuce leaves. Enjoy!

Arroz Caldo ala White House

Image
Me & my Filipino girl friends were craving for some sort of porridge. So today, I decided to cook arroz caldo. It is a staple food for the Filipinos as a snack, breakfast or late night meal. Arroz Caldo is easy to make but today, I thought of making a "gourmet" one by trying  White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford's recipe. For those who don't know, Cristeta Comerford, is a Filipino. (To learn more about her, click here .) She provided this recipe at a cooking demonstration  held at TenPenh in downtown Washington. She said "there is no real recipe for how Filipinos eat arroz caldo."  The arroz caldo itself is very easy like a normal Filipino family would make it. The garlic garnish adds more work.  It was worth it for me to learn the cooking technique and result achieved was amazing! But you can skip that part. Overall, we loooove this arroz caldo! I hope you'll get to try her recipe too. ...

The Queen sends her First Tweet!

Image
OMG! This is so exciting! My pseudo-mother, Queen Elizabeth II, just tweeted for the first time! While opening the Information Age exhibit at London’s Science Museum, she sent her first ever tweet from the official Twitter account of Buckingham Palace. Lurve! Being cool, "Elizabeth R."! Confirmed! The tweet’s author was then verified by the @BritishMonarchy account  with a follow-up tweet and a photo of the Queen sending the message. A statement from the museum said director Ian Blatchford had invited Queen Elizabeth to mark the occasion on social media. “I mentioned earlier that Queen Victoria took a great interest in the invention of the telephone, and Your Majesty has followed in this tradition of embracing new technology,” he told her. “You made the first live Christmas broadcast in 1957 and an event relished by historians took place on [March 26, 1976], when you became the first monarch to send an email, ...
