National Nurses Week
Introduced in 1982,
National Nurse Week is celebrated annually in May.
The week begins on May 6th & ends on Florence Nightingale’s Birthday on May 12th.
For several years now,
it has been my annual treat to get the freebie from Cinnabon.
But honestly,
I only found out last year the reason why they give free Cinnabon rolls to nurses.
And it will melt your heart!
Just present your ID
& you can either get a roll or bon bites.
Cinnabon’s philosophy is to serve those who serve others.
Keeping true to the values of the brand,
Cinnabon is a proud supporter of the The DAISY Foundation.
Established in 1999,
The DAISY Foundation’s mission
is to recognize the exceptional work that nurses do for patients & families every day.
DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.
It was founded by Bonnie & Mark Barnes & their family members from Glen Ellen, CA.
Cinnabon was The Daisy Foundation's first Industry Partner.
Since 2001,
their franchise bakeries have been providing their famous cinnamon rolls to nearby hospitals for every DAISY Award celebration.
In addition,
all nurses are invited to enjoy a free Cinnabon cinnamon roll
at participating bakeries during Nurses Week,
an annual event to remind nurses of how sweet and special they are.
THE SWEET STORY
It was established after Mark’s son, Pat,
died of complications from an auto-immune disease.
During his extended hospital stay,
Pat had stopped eating until his father, Mark, brought a Cinnabon.
Pat asked for a bite, and continued to eat all of it.
From then on, Pat continued to eat Cinnabon Classic rolls
& insisted his father bring additional Cinnabons to share with his care nurses.
Since its inception,
the foundation has presented more than 8500 nurses in over 2,600 medical facilities internationally with The DAISY Award,
which includes Cinnabon rolls as a part of the celebration of course!
Thank you so much to all the Cinnabon franchisees for sharing the sweetness to me
& to all my fellow nurses!
Nurses’ life definitely needs some frosting!
Shout out to my nearby Cinnabon in 8th Ave.
where I get my annual treat for several years now!

Peace, SWEETNESS & love,
